The protests are all over HongKong although mainly over on Hongkong island as this is the main business area and this is the other side of the bay, your safe if you stay away from any protests you may come upon in your travels but for the markets temple street market is in the Jordan area while the ladies market is in Momg Kok they are still on nightly and I’m not aware of any protests anywhere near them.

I went twice during my 72 hour visit to Hong Kong (stayed nearby at Eaton) and first visit around 8pm was packed full of locals and visitors. 11pm still had a sizeable crowd, but much easier to navigate.
