Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum underwent surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery on May 13, according to a May 14 report from ABC affiliate WCVB.
Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum suffered a lower right leg injury in Game 4 against the New York Knicks. Tatum was lunging for a loose ball with about three minutes left in the fourth quarter when his leg gave out, causing him to crumble to the floor in pain.
There is not word as of yet exactly what the injury is, but based on the fact that it was non-contact, and Tatum was wheeled to the locker room holding the back of his ankle, there is a belief that it is something to do with his Achilles tendon. After the game, notable Celtics fan Bill Simmons reacted on his live podcast.
The Knicks are one win away from a trip to the Eastern Conference finals, leading the Celtics 3-1 in the conference semis, which shifts back to Boston for a pivotal game 5 on Wednesday night. The Celtics will try to keep their hopes for a repeat championship alive after losing Jayson Tatum to a ruptured Achilles.
