As far as I'm concerned, those movies are extra credit. If you're super invested in the extraterrestrial part of Alien, feel free to slot those babies in between 1997's Alien: Resurrection and 2012's Prometheus.

For over 40 years, the Xenomorph has terrorized audiences with seven films, two Alien vs. Predator crossover movies and a show, Alien: Earth. The prequel, which premiered on FX and Hulu on Aug. 12, 2025, marked the first time the story has been adapted for the small screen.

The new Alien FX series hits all the right notes of nostalgia while building the universe in a creative (and terrifying) way. In space, no one can hear you scream, but they can sure hear you scratching your head as you try to make sense of the sprawling “Alien” universe.
