WASHINGTON (AP) — A proposal to deter states from regulating artificial intelligence for a decade was soundly defeated in the U.S. Senate on Tuesday, thwarting attempts to insert the measure into President Donald Trump’s big bill of tax breaks and spending cuts.

Tillis warned that Trump and congressional Republicans are about to “make a mistake on health care and betraying a promise” if the GOP’s budget megabill passes. The legislative package would extend Trump’s signature tax cuts from his first term, while slashing funding to government programs including Medicaid.
