IKEA has confirmed plans to open a nearly 70,000-square-foot store at Destiny USA in Syracuse, the largest shopping mall in New York. The announcement, made on Monday by IKEA U.S., marks the first IKEA store location in upstate New York.

IKEA U.S. announced plans for its third New York location at Destiny USA in Syracuse on the company's website on July 7. From Elmira, the drive to the new Syracuse store will take about 1 hour, 50 minutes. That's about half the estimated travel time to the IKEA in Paramus, NJ, the closest existing store.
