Jaxson Dart took another step Saturday night toward grabbing the Giants’ starting quarterback job if Russell Wilson falters early this regular season.

The most hotly discussed topic surrounding the New York Giants is if and when they'll start rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart. Head coach Brian Daboll alluded to a set plan for Dart and when they intend to let him play in the regular season.

Quarterback Jaxson Dart is going into his rookie season with the New York Giants after being taken with the No. 25 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He’s not expected to be the team’s Week 1 starter, though, with the Giants’ current depth chart putting Dart as the third-stringer, behind Russell Wilson (No. 1) and Jameis Winston (No. 2).

Dart has been the best rookie quarterback of the preseason. He checked in No. 1 in these rankings for Tyler Sullivan last week and sits atop them once again in Week 2. He's now 26 of 35 for 291 yards and two touchdowns through the air during New York's two preseason contests.
