Canada's Ontario slaps 25% electricity surcharge on US homes in retaliation for Trump’s tariffs
Ontario Premier Doug Ford followed through with his promise Monday and slapped a 25% surcharge on electricity the province provides to 1.5 million American homes. The surcharge is a retaliatory measure for US President Donald Trump’s tariffs and will affect New York State, Minnesota and Michigan.
"If the United States escalates, I will not hesitate to shut the electricity off completely," Doug Ford said Monday.
