Toronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins says the arrival of veteran pitcher Max Scherzer will have an impact on and off the field.

The three-time Cy Young Award winner agreed to a one-year, $15.5 million contract, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. The Blue Jays appeared to confirm the report with a tweet of two differently colored circles, a nod to Scherzer's heterochromia.

The deal with Toronto for Scherzer, 40, is reportedly pending a physical. The three-time Cy Young winner was limited by injuries to just 43⅓ inning with the Rangers in 2024.
