Authorities issued evacuation warnings and orders for tens of thousands of Los Angeles residents on Wednesday after heavy rain created the potential for deadly mudslides in the Palisades Fire zone. CalFire urged citizens to be ready to flee at a moment’s notice should heavy rains create deadly rivers of mud and debris in the denuded hillsides.

In Sierra Madre, residents were building wooden walls outside their yards and packing up their cars to leave Wednesday as they braced for possible mudslides with this week's storm — facing mandatory evacuations that will extend into Thursday.

On Wednesday, evacuation warnings and some mandatory orders were enacted in Sierra Madre near the Eaton Fire burn scar area as a storm is expected to hit Southern California.
