Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian has joined up with Frank McCourt and “Shark Tank” star Kevin O’Leary on their bid to acquire TikTok from its Chinese parent company ByteDance, the group announced

Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian has joined billionaire Frank McCourt’s bid to acquire TikTok as a strategic adviser. McCourt’s internet advocacy organization, Project Liberty, announced this week that the Ohanian, an investor married to tennis star Serena Williams, had joined a consortium called “The People’s Bid for TikTok”.

The bidding on TikTok just got fiercer. Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian is tossing his hat into the ring by joining Frank McCourt, former Los Angeles Dodgers owner, in his bid to acquire TikTok. According to McCourt, “He has that broad portfolio of experience … of where social media was and, I think, a keen understanding of where it’s evolving.”

Frank McCourt announced on Monday that Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit and a venture capitalist, has joined his bid to acquire TikTok's U.S. operations as a strategic adviser specializing in social media.

"TikTok has been a game-changer for creators, and it's future should be built by them," Ohanian wrote in an X post.
