A fetch of moisture driven off the Atlantic by low pressure continues to bring scattered showers and isolated brief storms. After this evening, showers will linger past midnight. Tomorrow will be much the same with a brief increase in storm potential late in the day along the Blue Ridge.

Saturday will be another warm day, with highs in the upper 80s under partly cloudy skies. While a few stray showers or storms may pop up, most of Chicagoland is likely to stay dry.

Dry summery warmth continues through Saturday afternoon. Showers are likely Saturday evening into Sunday morning.

Another cool day is on tap for the Southland with highs in the 70s away from the coasts, 80s for the deserts. The beaches will see highs in the mid 60s to low 70s.

Southwest and Central Virginia can expect warmer temperatures and some sunshine for the end of the week. However, there is still the potential for isolated showers and storms through the weekend. An area of weak high pressure will be over the Appalachian mountains through the weekend while a low-pressure system lingers

An area of low pressure off the East Coast, along with high pressure over the northeastern United States, will keep rain chances in the forecast through the end of the week. Patchy fog and areas of drizzle are possible for the Thursday morning commute through Southwest and Central Virginia.
