System snow spreads in later Saturday night before the lakeshore sees lake-effect snow heading into Sunday afternoon. Snow totals will stay between 2-4" area wide.
In Southeast Michigan, the snow is expected to develop after 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. with light snow during Saturday. One to 3 inches of snow is expected through Saturday afternoon for most areas. A second round of more intense snow is possible late Saturday evening into Sunday bringing the potential for snow accumulation more than 6 inches.
Snow will first start in our northwest spots like Houghton Lake, Harrison, and Clare as it migrates in from the west. Starting time is around 6 AM. As this steady snow moves in, roads will turn slick up north. We expect main roads to be more slushy, but it should accumulate easier on unpaved roads.
Additional lake effect snow of 1-3" is possible through tomorrow afternoon. Arctic air and blustery conditions will be in place this week.
