Right-hander José Ureña and the New York Mets finalized a minor league contract on Friday. New York agreed to the deal with the 33-year-old after right-hander Frankie Montas strained a lat muscle and left-hander Sean Manaea strained his right oblique.

Nonetheless, Ureña’s arrival comes at a much-needed time. The Mets recently lost left-hander Sean Manaea to an oblique injury. Manaea, who went 12-6 with a 3.47 ERA for the Mets, is expected to miss the start of the season. Frankie Montas suffered a lat strain earlier in camp and is likely out until May.
