The Boston Red Sox got an injury scare during Friday afternoon's matchup against the Baltimore Orioles. Third baseman Alex Bregman exited the matchup in the fifth inning after he awkwardly rounded first base on a single. He retreated to the bag, called timeout and left for the clubhouse with a noticeable limp.

Bregman singled to left off the left field wall with two down in the fifth inning. As he made the turn at first, he slowed down as the ball was fielded and thrown back into the infield. As Bregman arrived back at first, he immediately signaled to the dugout that he needed to come out of the game.

Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman was removed in the fifth inning of Friday’s opening game of a doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles with right quad rightness, the team said. Bregman singled sharply to left field and made a wide turn before retreating to the first-base bag.
