A tourist who went missing after she failed to return to her cruise ship last week has been found dead. Marites Buenafe, 62, of Kentucky, was visiting Alaska’s capital city when she did not return from a hike.

The crew of an Alaska Army National Guard helicopter located the body of 62-year-old Kentucky resident Marites Buenafe Thursday afternoon.

A 62-year-old tourist who never returned to her cruise was found dead on a hiking trail in Alaska. According to multiple reports, Marites Buenafe of Kentucky was aboard a Norwegian Bliss cruise visiting Juneau last week with a week-long roundtrip departure from Seattle.
