Some lucky early risers in Montana were treated to a brief, but spectacular celestial light show Wednesday morning.

Lots of people across Western Montana saw a bright light streaking across the sky on Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service office in Missoula reports a sensor detected what appears to be a meteor at around 6:30 a.m. The meteor was first detected over southwest Alberta.

Anyone looking north at the sky at about 6:34 a.m. on Wednesday got a rare treat in the form of a meteor streaking across the sky and burning up in the atmosphere. Viewers described a bright flash of bluish-greenish light along with an orange streak before and after.
